For Blu-ray standards, it’s a terrible transfer and painfully awful encoding job that was done.

In regards to general viewing, it still is pretty good. However, there is no real point in paying more for Blu-ray version when the DVD is just as good in quality. (Blu-ray slightly better but not by much). If you are not one of those video hardcore enthusiast, you’ll be fine with the regular DVD.

Here is a fantstic review of the Blu-ray Gladiator film version, what went wrong and why it didn’t meet critics expectations in video quality.

The small 5 second clip where u see a bunch of arrows is brighter than the original dvd version, so you don’t see them as well but they are still there.I compared the original and best dvd dts es dual layer version to it. Unless your a videophile nut you will not care. I’m usually one for detail too, i also have a PS3 as a blu ray. If you love this movie get it. Especially at best buy, as much as i think they suck, you can get Gladiator and Braveheart for $22.99each save $10 when u buy em together. Bottom line if you love this movie just freakin buy it
